Athens - P.78

Acropolis Athens

Some cool sculptures on the way out.

So, our whole group was waiting for about 15 minutes and one couple still hadn't showed up where we were supposed to meet.

Our guide had one of the guys in the group hold the sign while she went to look at where she suspected they might have mistakenly gone to meet.

Paul Sermon at Mars Hill

Where we were waiting was the front of the rock where Paul gave his Sermon at Mars Hill. The plaque is commemorating the event. It was all in Greek so I don't know what it said.

Our guide came back and couldn't find the couple. Apparently, when you're more than 15 minutes late to meet your group, you get left behind. She told some of the guards and other tour guides to keep an eye out and we left.

We started walking.

We were headed toward the agora.

Agii Apostoli

The Church of the Holy Apostles can be dated back to the 10th century. It's one of the only monuments in Agora to survive since it's foundation.

Herulian Wall

The Herulian Wall was built in the 3rd century A.D. It was built in the years following after the Herulians attacked Athens in 267 A.D. It's is made up almost entirely of reused pieces taken from buildings and monuments destroyed by the Herulians to make two solid faces, while the inside was filled with rubble.
