The ruins of Domitian Square. |
The Fountain of Pollio was located next to the Temple of Domitian in Domitian Square. |
A relief of Nike. |
The Hercules gate is called that because of the relief of Hercules on it. It was brought from somewhere else in the fourth century A.D., but the relief on it dates back to the second century AD. |
A close up. |
Curetes street is one of the three main streets of Ephesus. It took its name from the priests who were called Curetes. There used to be fountains, shops and statues along the street. They were mostly destroyed by earthquakes. |
The Fountain of Trajan was constructed for Emperor Trajan, and a statue of Trajan stood in the center overlooking the pool. Columns and the statues of Dionysus, Satyr, Aphrodite and the family of the Emperor surrounded the pool. |
I loved this mosaic floor that was across the street from the Fountain of Trajan. It has hearts in it! |
