Tanzania Trip

Tanzania - P.12

We got to our hotel at night so we didn't get to see much. A hyena crossed the road in front of us on the way to the hotel and we saw a mongoose but we didn't stop the car or take pictures.

The power was on when we arrived. We think they kept it on a little bit later for us. It was around 11 when we got there. They kept the power on from 6:30 to 10:30am and pm. The rest of the time you used sunlight or flashlight.

The shower was GIANT!

Day 4: Our first full day at the Hatari Lodge. It's called the Hatari Lodge after the John Wayne movie, "Hatari!" The property was leased to Paramount Pictures when they were filming the movie. The main lodge was part of the original property.

Our room. They didn't have numbers, just leaf shapes.

We were woken up every morning by Black-Faced Vervet monkeys. They ran across the roof.

We were at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru. We never saw the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was always covered by clouds.

We had time to explore. We were waiting for  the rest of our group to arrive.

The bar inside of the lodge was dedicated to the movie Hatari.

The lounge showed the history of the property dating back to 1906.

The lodge sits on the Northern edge of the Arusha National Park. Animals walk up to the lodge regularly.
