At first, with the traffic problems and everything, we were irritated that we got there so late.

But it turns out we were there at the perfect time. The animals come out early in the morning and at dusk. We were there at dusk.

We stopped to see a female elk just laying in the middle of the river. No one else had seen her.

She didn't seem to mind us either.

While we were looking at the elk, a flock of geese decided to walk out of the water. They were fairly noisy.

We didn't try to get too close.

We were driving and a big buffalo was jogging down the street straight for us. So, we stopped. He just ran past us like we weren't there.

Our next stop. A big bull elk. Really close. Very vocal.

He posed beautifully!

Eventually he walked off, braying the whole time.

We think this was one of his females. She was across the street.
