The Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli was at the base of the hill. We said we'd come back to it if we had time.

Assisi on top of the hill.

Only residents and people who work in Assisi can take their car inside the city. The roads are very small and not very well suited for traffic. Visitors have to park at the base of the hill and walk (hike) up.
