Rome P.36

This is considered to be the world's oldest known amphitheater. About the size of a football stadium, it will seat 12,000 people

A tunnel to get to your seat.

There used to be gladiator battles here.

These small openings were all around the amphitheater. We thought they might be for animals.

A ramp to get out the other side.

I'm not sure what this area was.

It was next to the Amphitheater. It was also closed so we couldn't get inside.

The Garden of the 13 Fugitives.

These 13 people, both adults and children, sought refuge in this building but were killed in the eruption.

It was a very grim site.

The rest of the garden was planted with grapevines.
