Italy Trip

Rome P.17

Just outside the front door of the Basilica.

They were still setting up for the Papal audience tomorrow.

One of the Swiss Guard.

The statues on the roof.

All of the people leaving the Basilica.

We had to go to the Bishop's Office for U.S. Visitors to the Vatican to get our tickets for the Papal audience the next morning. We took an open-air bus that we could get on and off throughout the day.

The Bishop's office had a very pretty square. We got really lucky and the nun that gave us our tickets had 2 extra VIP tickets for the Papal audience. She gave them to us! We were VERY excited!

The bus ride then took us down the street made famous in the movie La Dolce Vita.

I think this is a government building. The inscription at the top is talking about King Umberto I.

We were headed towards the Colosseum to go inside.

We were bummed. It was closed for the day.

We walked around the outside and took pictures.
