Italy Trip
Rome P.16
![]() It's a little blurry but the box is where St. Peter is buried. It's directly under the altar. |
![]() A statue of the Apostle St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter. |
![]() Behind the altar is called the Triumph of the Chair of Saint Peter by Bernini. We couldn't get a good picture of the stained glass but it's dove, portraying the Holy Spirit, surrounded by twelve rays, symbolizing the apostles |
![]() The dome with the canopy. |
![]() This is the the tomb of Alexander VII by Bernini. |
![]() A close-up of the gold skeleton holding an hourglass, symbolizing the inevitability of death. |
![]() The tomb of Pope Pius VII. |
![]() Pilgrims used to kiss the left foot of St. Peter for luck. Now people touch it. His foot is very worn down from being touched for hundreds of years. There are nearly no toes left. |
![]() Kris after she touched the statue. |
![]() Bill touching the statue. |
![]() Another cool shot of the dome. |
![]() Pope John Paul II's coat of arms in the floor. To see more pictures of the Vatican Museum, click HERE. |
