We had a good day in Roswell. |
After we left Roswell, there wasn't much to see on the road. It was pretty open. We were having a discussion about whether or not there were many dangerous snakes around. We stopped at a rest stop and we saw this sign. Discussion over! |
Pecos Valley of Great Plains province stretches westward to foothills to Capital Jicarilla and Gallinas Mountains. Southern High Plains, 50 miles to East, are capped by water-bearing Ogalalla Formation; Poquita Mesa to east is Ogalalla remnant. Nearby depressions are sinkholes in porous Perminan limestones. Elevation 4,500 feet. |
It was getting dark again. We were going to try to make it to Santa Fe in time for the True Blood, Season 2 season finale at 9pm. It was going to be close but we were recording it at home, just in case. |
We took a chance and called La Fonda in the historic district and they had a room! |
We even got an upgrade! |
Day 3: We explored the hotel a little bit. |

There has been a inn at this location, at the end of the Santa Fe Trail, for 400 years. |
The current building was built in 1922. |
