Road Trip '09

Every so often they had alien footsteps on the sidewalk.

We had a good day in Roswell.

After we left Roswell, there wasn't much to see on the road. It was pretty open. We were having a discussion about whether or not there were many dangerous snakes around. We stopped at a rest stop and we saw this sign. Discussion over!

Pecos Valley of Great Plains province stretches westward to foothills to Capital Jicarilla and Gallinas Mountains. Southern High Plains, 50 miles to East, are capped by water-bearing Ogalalla Formation; Poquita Mesa to east is Ogalalla remnant. Nearby depressions are sinkholes in porous Perminan limestones. Elevation 4,500 feet.

It was getting dark again. We were going to try to make it to Santa Fe in time for the True Blood, Season 2 season finale at 9pm. It was going to be close but we were recording it at home, just in case.

We took a chance and called La Fonda in the historic district and they had a room!

We even got an upgrade!

Day 3: We explored the hotel a little bit.

There has been a inn at this location, at the end of the Santa Fe Trail, for 400 years.

The current building was built in 1922.
