It was getting too dark to see anything so it was the end of the expedition.

Back to the hotel.

During the day we were thinking we were probably cutting it close getting back home. We were going to have to hurry back.

Day 8: We got up earlier than normal because we were kid of pressed for time now. We might even have to go on a highway!

For now, we weren't close to a highway so we were happy staying on the back roads.

The views are much better on the back roads.

On back roads you run in to really great things like this. The Tie Hack Memorial.

Erected to perpetuate the memory of the hardy woods and river men who made and delivered he cross ties for the building and maintenance of the Chicago and North Western Railway in this Western country.
