The Llano Estacado.
Nomadic Indians and countless buffalo herds dominated this vast plain when the Vasquez de Coronado expedition explored it in 1541...

...Later it was the focus of the Comanchero activity and in the 19th century it became a center for cattle ranching. The name LLANO ESTACADO, or stockaded plains, refers to the fortress-like appearance of its escarpments.

We were just amused my this sign. When 19th Century cowboys attempted to measure these lakes by tying lariats together, they found no bottom and declared the lakes "bottomless." Today, we know these sinkholes, formed by collapsed salt and gypsum deposits, are 17 to 90 feet in depth. The park was established in 1933 as New Mexico's first state park.

Kris is marking the sign on the map.

There is nothing else out there.

Coming in to Roswell, NM. The sign is in English and in Alien.

Even McDonald's kinda looks like a UFO.

The town was really cute!

All of the street light on main street looked like this.

We were headed to the International UFO Museum And Research Center.
