Gruyeres Castle - P.194

Gruyeres Castle

The Baroque Room.

We really liked the ceiling.

The Knight's Room. The walls were painted between 1852 and 1862.

On the chimney are two armor-clad knights present the armorial bearings of Count Louis and his wife Claude de Seyssel.

The wall paintings covered a frieze bearing the arms of the bailiffs of Fribourg.

They cut this part of the wall so you can see the old frieze underneath.

The crane, symbol of Gruyeres.

The sun dials dated 1559 were placed there before the building of the roof.
