Day 10

Marrakech, Morocco. Long bus ride, Bahia Palace, traditional Moroccan lunch, Koutoubia Minaret, Saadian Tombs and Garden, Jemaa el-Fnaa Bazaar, cobras, monkeys, storytellers, fortune tellers, and magicians!

  1. Brilliance

    Bahia means, "brilliance." It was meant to be the greatest palace of all time.

  2. Beautiful!

    This part of the ceiling looks like paintings, not tile.

  7. Zellige

    This type of tile is called zellige. It's tile chips set in to plaster. Craftsmen are trained from childhood in this artform.

  8. Hard to pick

    Everything was so beautiful it was hard to pick which photos to take.

    I've also see it called the front courtyard.

    With beautiful tiles.

    The tiles were very old and delicate. They asked us not to touch the walls.

    The stained glass windows around the harem had the same parttern as the zellige tiles.
