Italy Trip

Rome P.1

After a very long flight through New York, we finally landed in Rome!

Our driver, Paolo, was waiting to take us on a 6-hour driving tour of Rome.

We were tired but really happy to be there!

One of the gates of ancient Rome.

An overall shot of the city.

Our first stop was the Circus Maximus.

There used to be stands that would hold a quarter of a million people. Now all that's left is the track.

It was  primarily used for chariot racing.

The Baths of Caracalla were right across the way. They're the second largest ancient baths in Rome. They used to accommodate up to 1600 people a day.

There was a pretty rose garden across the street.

This building is Il Vittoriano in the Piazza Venezia. It was just beautiful! All made of white marble. At the top of the steps in the center is the tomb of the unknown soldier.

I think this is the statue of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of unified Italy. The building is a monument to him.
